The Tale of the Visiter (correctly spelled as shown here) is a folk opera created by Brian Childs over the period 1981 to 1989, and relates the true story of a dramatic rescue attempt at Robin Hood's Bay in 1881. It contains the story narrative plus 10 songs, and takes roughly an hour to perform.
To date, the Tale of the Visiter has been performed at the Whitby Moor & Coast Festival, Darlington Spring Thing Folk Festival, the Captain Cook Festival, Darlington Folk Club, the Cutty Wren Folk Club, Sunderland RNLI, and at various other venues in Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Saltburn, Seaham Harbour, Middlestone and Darlington.
